Avoid eye fatigue and look good with progressive lenses

It seems like everything we do today involves a digital screen. For some of us, we cannot avoid it as it is a massive part of our daily routine, both on the job and at home.

Whether it is Skyping with overseas relatives and friends or working in front of a computer for a significant part of the day, our lives have transformed with the advancement of digital technology. This also impacts how we use our eyes.

Our eyes are amazing. They can shift between various depth of fields seamlessly. But focussing on a digital screen for hours upon hours is a relatively new task for humanity. Perhaps the eyes of future generations will evolve and develop stronger resistance to eye fatigue, but for now it’s important to recognise the strain that can occur with too many hours in front of a digital screen.

Wouldn’t it be nice to give our eyes some help with progressive lenses?

Spending a large amount of time looking at digital screens — or any near object for that matter — means eyes are constantly exerting more effort to focus. When this happens, three reactions occur simultaneously:

  • Ciliary muscles contract to make the lens more convex, which shortens the focal length.
  • Pupils constrict to avoid diverging light from hitting the periphery of the eye.
  • Eyes converge to make focusing at near distance clearer.

Put simply, our eyes are working harder than ever, causing strain.

This is where HOYA eyeglass lenses can help. The Dynamic Sync lenses are designed for all day wear by patients with digitally connected lifestyles. These lenses provide a more advanced design than standard single vision lenses, which have the same distance power throughout the lens.

Dynamic Sync’s superior design has the distance power for everyday use and a ‘boost zone’ at the bottom of the lens. The boost zone is an area with a slight add power, which reduces reduces eye strain during prolonged up close activities such as looking at digital screens, reading or any ‘near task’ activities.

The slight add power area from the HOYA lense allows your patients’ eye muscles to relax and focus more easily, helping to relieve eye strain and provide visual comfort.
