Keeping you safe at Level 2

What to expect when we open again

As Greenlane Penrose Optometrist, along with hundreds of other businesses, prepares to reopen in Level 2, we’ve put together a roster of health & safety practices to ensure we’re keeping you safe when you visit us.

Here’s what you can expect when you see us again:

Hygiene Protocols

We have been and will continue to follow Ministry of Health best practice guidelines for sanitising and disinfection. All surfaces that come in contact with staff and clients obviously have to be meticulously sanitised and this will be done between every client.

Hand Sanitiser: Hand sanitiser is available, and we ask that all clients sanitise their hands when they arrive into the practice.

PPE Usage: We have PPE available in the practice, and will be using it as required by the MOH guidelines. This could include masks, gloves, and face masks.

Contact Tracing: We are using an electronic contact tracing system which should be easily filled in by us for all our clients, you won’t have to do anything else.

Telehealth: We will use pre-appointment phone calls with Jenny to go through most of the initial history questions that we require as part of an eye exam. By doing this ahead of time we should be able to substantially decrease the amount of contact time in the practice, and save that close-contact time for actual exam procedures that require it.

Physical Distancing: In optometry it’s obviously quite challenging to enforce strict social distancing, however we have set up policies that adhere to MOH guidelines to maintain 1m distancing as much as possible.

Buying from us

Please be assured that all items we receive into the practice are sanitised before being dispatched to our clients.

Contact lens wearers can continue to order their lenses with us either over the phone or by sending us an email. We are happy to send contact lenses out directly to you and can easily arrange for payments either over the phone, by credit card, or directly into our bank account.

Regarding frame selection, we will keep frames that have been tried on aside to be sanitised before returning them to display, so don’t worry about the safety of anything you pick up off the shelf. Lisa and Jenny will be on hand to help you keep frames separate after you’ve touched or tried them on.

Appointments with us

As we gradually readjust to normal practice it will be important that we can monitor who is visiting us and when we are expecting them. We ask that clients phone us to prearrange an appointment time, even if it is just for a collection or repair.

Normal appointments for eye examinations will need to be pre-booked. We will not be offering any appointments for walk-ins.

When you make your appointment by phone or online, you will need to answer a few routine Covid assessment questions. We will repeat these questions prior to your appointment. If you have been unwell or in close contact with anyone who has or is suspected of having Covid we will ask you to defer your appointment.

We thank you for understanding that these questions and processes have been implemented for patient and customer safety, and are not intended to offend.

We are taking care with our bookings to limit the number of people in the practice to just one bubble. This isn’t strictly necessary, but will give us all the confidence that our new procedures are effective and we can get back to the business of looking after your eyecare and eyewear safely.
